Mad Would Know

 

 

We agree with several of Mad Magazine’s choices for “Dumbest People, Events and Things of the Year.”  For example, their picks for #1: ”The Iraq War — Mish-mosh Accomplished,” #6. “Ann Coulter — Queen of the Vile,” #7. “Mel Gibson — The Passion of the Anti-Semite,” and #20. “Bush’s Assault on Civil Liberties — The Kill of Rights,” featuring Bush, Cheney and Condi in seafaring drag on a poster for “Pirates of the Constitution, Head Man’s Mess,” were all inspired choices. 

But what kind of a list of dumbness could leave off Dr. Mike Adams, Mark Steyn (whose epic work “America Alone: Why We Whlte Folks Aren’t Breeding as Fast as We Should” was finally published this year), or Pastor Grant Swank?

So, since we may not get around to having a “Ultimate Wingnut” contest this year, we invite you to post your nominees for The Dumbass, Idiotic Event, or Stupid Thing of 2006.

Man, I did ‘Pirates of the Constitution’ months ago. Not as well, probably, but I think I’m owed some props.

Give Swank the Lifetime Achievement Award. The garbled syntax, the paranoia, the f’ed up political ideology are epic.
I’m still pondering the 2006 nominee.

Give Mad Magazine credit, they hit more hard issues than the New York Times. Honestly, ask yourself which publication called out the adminstration for rountinely violating our Constitutional rights.
They violate the 1st Amendment by caging demonstrators and banning books like “America Deceived” from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov’t.
Mad Magazine wins, hands down (even their fold-ins are more political)

I’m hard pressed to come up with one nominee, but while I’m considering the problem I’d like to submit for your consideration, as an “opus magnum,” anything and everything that came out of Bill O’Reilly’s pie hole. Which is a chasm he should, in the interests of humanity, consider shutting.

Not quite. In the book, he says:

As one is always obliged to explain when tiptoeing around this territory, I’m not a racist, only a culturist. I believe Western culture — rule of law, universal suffrage, etc. — is preferable to Arab culture: that’s why there are millions of Muslims in Scandinavia, and four Scandinavians in Syria. Follow the traffic. I support immigration, but with assimilation. Without it, like a Hindu widow, we’re slowly climbing on the funeral pyre of our lost empires. You see it in European foreign policy already: they’re scared of their mysterious, swelling, unstoppable Muslim populations.

Alas, I’d guess that MAD readers are unfamiliar with Mark Steyn, “Dr.” Mike Adams, and Pastor Swank. (Of the four MAD readers polled here at Casa Biscuitbarrel, I’m the only one who knows who they are.)

But I would say that one Totally Dumbass Act revealed in 2006 upon which both MAD and WO’C readers could agree would be former Rep. Mark Foley’s act of cybersex with a young man before he could tear himself away and return to the House floor to vote. Ick.

Alas this is too easy. I nominate the American people for sitting passively through the sixth year of the little Gawd of the Oval Office’s misrule.

Sure Congress will change but will it make a difference? No, the lying, the blaming, the dithering, the smirking, the self-will will continue to run riot unless his bawls are cut off.

And I don’t see anyone who still gives a shit about this country to do it.

I second the Murkin people’s Velveeta-fed asses still sitting, still staring, unblinking, at the FOX-TV screens, not even NOTICING as another year passes them by where our constitution is COMPLETELY destroyed, a year in which Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al WROTE THEIR OWN LEGISLATION & “EXECUTIVE ORDERS” to RETROACTIVELY “Forgive” themselves for WAR CRIMES DATING BACK TO THE *FIRST* BUSH REGIME, and oh, yeah, “American Idol” gets more votes than ACTUAL FUCKING ELECTIONS.

So yeah, the Murkin Sheeple are the stupidest thing to happen for the past SIX years. And they’re still sitting there, waitin’ to be raptured up into the sky by their little invisible cloud god.
