Michael Goldfarb, blogging at The Weekly Standard:
ABC runs a report showing the names and faces of two CIA contractors who may have had a role in the waterboarding of KSM and Abu Zubaydah. [...]
ABC’s conduct here, exposing two men who will now become obvious targets for terrorists and left-wing extremists, is deplorable. Will the Obama administration investigate who leaked their identities? Or is it now open-season on Americans who were only doing what their government asked of them in order to protect their country from attack?
If only Valerie Plame had been torturing prisoners, instead of working on nuclear non-proliferation issues, Rove and Cheney would have been horrified at the thought of outing her.
What “left-wing extremists” is he referring to? Move On? Daily Kos? Yes, they might write extremely nasty blog posts about these gentlemen and *refer to them by name*! And show their pictures on teh internets!
But I find it highly unlikely some leftie is going to go Timothy McVeigh on them.
As ex-conservative think-tanker Phillip Gold observed, “you ask them to show you their war wounds and they wave a copy of the New York Times editorial page at you.”
Did it ever occur to these “contractors” that what they were doing might be considered disgusting and immoral if it ever came to light? If it did, why did they do it anyway? And if it didn’t, why aren’t they standing up proudly and taking credit for their bold defense of American freedom against the evil Mooslims?
